DWELLER
Jeff Strand
My streak of reading authors I have never read before continues—as does the five star reviews. The premise of this story sounded interesting: It’s about a boy that meets a monster in the woods and they become friends. That’s the simple answer to “What’s it about?” But it’s about a lot more than that.
Jeff Strand is a horror author that is known for infusing humor into his books. I didn’t know what to expect, but here’s what I got: a page-turner that was near impossible to put down every time I picked it up.
The story was touching in many ways and at different times throughout the book. It was also quite gory and kind of twisted. That’s not necessarily what I’m looking for in a book, but that’s just the way this one is. Nevertheless, it was a gripping read and I enjoyed it. I read fiction to be entertained mainly, and this novel does that very well plus leaves the reader with a lot to ponder on. I’ll be thinking about this one for a while. 5 stars. Here’s the LINK.
