This is the fourth book in the Dark Tower series. It is the best so far. The back story that is told of Roland and Susan is incredible. King continues to build on this huge story and so far it only gets better and better. Most of the book was a look back in time for the protagonist, Roland. Normally, I want to see a story progress; but in this case the story did progress by looking back at Roland’s history. There is no other writer like Stephen King. I feel fortunate that I still have three more books to go in this series.

If you ever think about reading these books, just be sure to start with the first one. It might be hard to get through (it was for me the first time), but it is essential for the novels to come in my opinion. It’s a wild ride, and one that I’m nowhere near ready to get off. If it’s not obvious how I feel about the book, here’s the bottom line: I loved it. Thank you Stephen King for writing it.
