Looking For Alaska

LOOKING FOR ALASKA
John Green

I came across this book one evening on Amazon; not really sure how, but I did.  The description sounded interesting, and the reviews were excellent (it was obvious that, in this case, the reviews were real).  I downloaded the sample, and then didn’t hesitate to buy the novel when I finished.

This book hit home for me in a lot of ways.  It took me back to my teenage years, and I could identify with how the characters viewed life.  I could also identify with many of the things that happened in the novel, and in the character’s lives.

This is an excellent book, and I’m glad I read it; but it was a bit of a downer for me too.  It definitely affected my mood while I was reading it.  It is written for teenagers, but adults should not hesitate to read it.  It is written on a level above most of the YA fiction I have read, which is great.  I don’t believe in simplifying the writing or the story for a teenage audience.

I’m going to give the book 5 stars, but in my opinion, it is more suited for a 17+ audience than for younger teens. Here's the Amazon link.
