This is a Dark Tower novel.  The series (7 books) was completed a few years ago.  King saw a hole in the storyline that he decided to plug and thus this novel became DT 4.5.  It falls between DT 4 and DT 5.

The Wind Through The Keyhole can be read even if you have not read the other books.  It is a stand-alone novel, but is also part of the series.  I think someone that has never read any of the DT books would still enjoy this, but it has a special meaning to those of us that have read the entire series.

I read the series a few years ago, and thought it was over.  I was so excited to hear last year that there would be another Dark Tower novel.  I have now read it, and was not disappointed.  It was just as good as the others and rekindled the fire I have for the story.  I certainly hope that Mr. King finds another book or two to add to the story in the coming years.

You never know, but I would be surprised if this book doesn't sit at #1 on my 2012 list of the ten best novels I read.  Thank you Mr. King for another Dark Tower novel.  I loved it and only want more.  It gets my highest rating, 5 stars.  Click here for the Amazon link.
