With sadness, I can say that I finished The Dark Tower today. The sadness is not because of the ending, but because it is over. From beginning to end, this series of books has kept me on the edge of my seat. That has only happened with a couple of books ever. But this entire series did that. Reading this series (I didn’t actually read it, I listened to it on audio books) has been an experience unlike any I’ve had before with a work of fiction.

Prior to these books, the best single book I had ever read was The Stand. I thought I would always place that book as the best. It’s no longer true. This series as a whole, is the most riveting and entertaining reading I have ever done. These characters were as alive as characters can be.

I am going to miss listening to Roland’s story going to and from work every day. I looked forward to the drive and seeing Roland’s story unfold. I actually feel thankful to Stephen King for this story, and the fact that a decent amount of my money for the hardcovers which I now have, as well as the audio books, is sitting in his pocket doesn’t bother me in the least. This series was worth every cent.

To Stephen King: Thank you for writing this masterpiece. Long days and pleasant nights to you, sir.

To readers of this blog: If you like books set in the horror/fantasy genre, and haven’t read this amazing story, READ IT.

In a couple of years, I will start over and read/listen to it again. I’m already looking forward to it :-)
