Robert A. Heinlein
A very interesting novel. It was easy to tell that the book was written in the fifties by the language and how the story was presented. Very different from other fiction, even science fiction that I have read.
The thing that struck me the most with this novel was it’s moral, social, and philosophical themes. It is set in the future and makes references to the past (such as the times we live in now) and the ultimate failure of our society at that time.
The book is an entertaining novel, a lesson about what can happen when we ignore history and don’t learn from the past, and the dangers of an overly tolerant, liberal society in my opinion. This book was very thought provoking and was a surprise to me in its depth as far as social commentary goes.
I highly recommend this book. It will not matter whether you like sci-fi or not. The science fiction is just a package or covering for the real story and theme of the novel.
