Steve Jobs

STEVE JOBS
Walter Isaacson

Let me just get this out of the way:  5 stars!  It doesn't matter which side of the fence you're on--Mac or PC, iOS or Android, anti-technology, or whatever--everyone should read this biography of a truly historic figure.  I was impressed that the author seems to have told it like it is: the good and the bad.

I started using Macs in 1991.  Hard to believe it's been twenty years.  The first ten years of that, I was not just a user, but it was a hobby and a love.  Now, while most of my work is done on PCs for various reasons, I still own a current Mac and prefer it.  I also have an iPod, iPhone, and iPad.  I have also seen some of the Pixar movies.  For the past twenty years, because of my love for the products, I was also curious about the creator of the products:  Steve Jobs and Apple.  So I have kept up with what was going on over the years.  Reading this book gave a behind the scenes view of the past twenty years, and also cleared up a lot of the rumors.

I remember a movie that came out years ago called The Pirates Of Silicon Valley.  It was about Steve Jobs and Bill Gates and how Macs and PCs came to be.  I haven't seen it in years, but remember how much I enjoyed it because it was giving me a peek at how things happened.  This book is like that x 10.

The book also talks about Steve Jobs offering advice to President Obama about how to fix our educational system, and also about the economy.  That advice doesn't appear to have been taken.  I think it would be wise to listen to a man with a proven track record such as his, and also someone that did not tolerate the phrase, "It can't be done."
